Wheat tortillas are especially popular in Northern Mexico. They are also used to prepare tacos, burritos and the classic quesadillas. Their size can vary depending on the region. In Mexican states such as Baja California, Sinaloa, Nayarit and Sonora, flour tortillas can range from 15 to 30 centimeters in diameter and are usually thinner and softer than corn tortillas.

In Germany, people associate these wheat tortillas with the typical wraps more commonly found in supermarkets than real corn tortillas. Their soft and sweet bite is especially suitable for cold toppings, such as tuna, chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and cheese.

Cometa is a brand founded by Mexicans in the south of Germany, which, in addition to tortillas, also produces complete ready meals, such as pozole, but also meat preparations for tacos. During the tasting, the tortillas could convince us with their authentic taste.

Recipe

Warm the tortillas without wrapping in a preheated pan for about 1 minute, turn.

Then keep warm, for example, in a tortillero or clean kitchen towel or consume directly. For example, with a meat topping, onions, lime juice, cilantro and a salsa from our store.

Other toppings could be: Beans, bean puree, vegetables such as nopales cactus strips, cream cheese, creme fraiche.

Tips

Store in a dry and cool place, the tortillas can be stored wrapped at room temperature. Once opened, close carefully and store in the refrigerator and use within 7 days.
